Book BLurb

A battle over the Apples of Immortality is at hand.

On an island in the Salish Sea, caretakers of the ancient orchards are vanishing. The earth witch in charge of protecting the groves is on the cusp of losing her magic. And the druid who investigates crimes of the magical kind is carrying deadly secrets.

All Calliope Jones needs to do is survive her Blood Ceremony, keep her teenaged sons’ magic from blowing up, and help save Tanner Marechal from the hellion capable of breaking him completely.

My Review

Okay, guys, this week’s review strays from my standard fare a bit but trust me, it’s worth the divergence. Magic Remembered by Coralie Moss is an urban fantasy with a side of slow burn, seasoned romance.

As I plow toward my mid-thirties, I have to admit… it’s refreshing to read a book where the main characters aren’t fresh-faced early twenty-somethings. It’s also a joy to have an MC with real life—and really relatable—life experiences. Even in an urban fantasy.

Calliope Jones—our main protagonist in a first-person, single-POV narrative—is facing down menopause, nearly-full-grown sons, a somewhat-recent divorce, and a blossoming desire to not only embrace her sexuality but also to discover the magic her ex-husband forced her to hide for most of her life. Yet despite all that, she’s wonderfully down-to-earth and, while her desire aims toward a certain druid with some intriguing issues of his own, she remains a strong, solid, and independent woman. There’s no “damsel in distress” or “let love be the answer to all your problems” tropes here. Ms. Jones is her own person and, for better or worse, she will fix her own problems.

With a little help from her quickly budding magic and the support of good friends, she aims to take on the world.

I enjoyed the external plot, as well, but will leave that to you, the reader, to discover on your own. No spoilers here! 😍

I highly recommend this book to all lovers of urban fantasy, especially those who appreciate a seasoned romance with a slow, delicious burn.

So, it’s that time where I ask you, “What are you waiting for?” Magic Remembered was released today, Thursday, October 25th, 2019! Get out there and make a purchase I promise you won’t regret!

Until next time,

E 💕
