This week’s read was a wild ride, y’all! Black Flag: Safe Passage by Rachel Ford is an enjoyable sci-fi space opera with a lesbian romance at its heart. The vast world Ford created, and the quirky cast of characters kept me turning the pages.

Southsayer by Alia Hess is book 4 in her Travelers series but it is billed as a standalone that can be used as an entry point into her established series for new readers.

(Not to say romance novels can’t have intricate and intriguing plots—because they can and quite often do—but they don’t compare to the amount of brain-power and focus it takes to make sense of a science fiction or fantasy.) That all being said, Imminent Dawn by R. R. Campbell was definitely one of those long, twisty, challenging reads… and, I adored it.
